This course for elementary school teachers is designed to improve your understanding of how kids use digital media, and the possibilities and perils they face in the digital world. Through guided activities and access to engaging instructional materials, you will gain practical strategies to teach your students the digital citizenship skills they need to harness the potential of technology for learning and life.

About This Course

Kids today are using the immense power of digital media to explore, connect, create, and learn in ways never before imagined. With this power, young people have extraordinary possibilities, and yet they face potential perils, too. Schools and teachers are dealing with the associated ramifications, like safety and security concerns, cyberbullying, copyright and plagiarism, finding and evaluating quality sources, and more. These issues underscore the need for students to learn — and for teachers to teach — digital literacy and citizenship skills.

In this course, you will learn about what motivates kids in their use of technology and you will be able to teach them skills to think critically, behave safely, and participate responsibly in the digital world.
